An Early Warning System For At-Risk Students
We’ve studied student attrition and identified three primary factors that affect the likelihood of successful completion – attitudinal, behavioral and situational.
Our approach is both proactive and reactive.
Based on information we gather from your advisors and the student, we develop a preliminary calling profile (e.g. weekly, monthly, end-of-term). Next, we collaborate to identify key triggers that will notify us when outreach is required (e.g. failed test, lack of attendance). After making contact, we transfer the student to the appropriate resource within your institution (e.g. financial aid, academic advisor).
Think of it this way: What qualify and transfer services do to improve enrollment rep productivity, retention services can do for your student services advisors.
Attitudinal Based on factors such as demographics, degree type, available job market and location, we’ve developed a customized modeling strategy. Combined with surveys and your advisors’ opinions, we can predict the likelihood of graduation.
Behavioral Indicators of student involvement, such as attendance, class participation and grades are obtained through your learning management system (LMS) and factored into risk assessment.
Situational Connecting students with supportive resources in the case of unforeseen events such as the loss of a loved one, a job change or health issues can help them deal with their situations while continuing to pursue their life goals.
